Our Mission
At McGregorsBeggars.com, our mission is to nurture a vibrant alumni community for all ‘McGregorites’ (anyone who sang with Mr. Mac) that supports and uplifts its members. We believe in the power of connection and actively work to provide opportunities for alumni to engage, participate, and contribute to a shared legacy of knowing John and Doris McGregor.
We are dedicated to offering a platform where alumni can not only register and participate in events but also access valuable resources, strengthen bonds long held, and forge new meaningful relationships. Our aim is to create an environment where every member feels valued, inspired and has the opportunity to be an active part of our community.
Our History
McGregor’s Beggars was founded with the vision of creating a lasting bond between alumni, offering a place to connect and share experiences. Over the years, we have grown into a thriving community that cherishes its past while looking forward to a bright future.
From humble beginnings, our community has evolved, embracing the diverse backgrounds and achievements of our members. We celebrate our alumni’s successes and continue to build a supportive network that extends beyond geographical boundaries.
A New Impetus
In November 2024, Becky Reed (Beggar 81-82) had an inspiration to sing! She leaned into this inspiration and developed it into the idea that there should again be a Beggar Reunion! Thinking that it had been about a decade or so that we lost our beloved Mac and Doris, she realized there should also be a big acknowledgement of Mr. Mac’s legacy. Becky reached out on Facebook to gauge interest in the idea of a Beggar reunion, soon. Responses came in! There was a group of us that agreed that there should be a 2025 Beggar Reunion. We then met for dinner to discuss the idea. Our Beggar etiquette was evident as we were too loud, laughed too much, and stayed too long for the restaurant’s taste! We decided that very evening to not only plan this reunion, but to make it a vessel to ignite the fire in us all to resurrect a fund for The McGregor Activity Center in Englewood! We want to continue the legacy Mr. Mac left for the love of music, entertaining, and bringing joy to others!

As we look to the future, McGregor’s Beggars is committed to expanding our reach and impact. We aim to enhance our digital resources, making it easier for alumni to participate, share, and engage with the community from anywhere in the world.
Our vision includes fostering a sense of belonging and pride among alumni, encouraging them to contribute to the community’s growth and success. We are excited to explore new opportunities and continue to strengthen the bonds that unite us.
